12/22/11                                              Day 27:  “authenticity”

“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about
the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our
true selves be seen.”   ~  Dr. Brene Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection

Are you living your true ‘authentic’ life?  Are you doing what really makes you
happy?  It’s an important question to ask yourself and to answer it with honesty.

For example…a couple months ago, shortly after my experience at
Camp Shutter Sisters, I wasn’t feeling ‘connected’ to my home office.
Something was missing. It didn’t feel like a space designed to promote
creativity.  It was your typical ‘office’ structure with desk, bookshelves, fax, etc.
I longed for the place called Kiln at Asilomar, with the little white lights,
photos hung on twine, and inspirational words everywhere.  I  longed
to have a space in my office that would bring the feeling of creativity that
I had at Asilomar {sigh}.

With that said, and with an image I had shot at Kiln (see post on ‘illuminate’),
I knew what I had to do.  I turned my perfectly structured office into a disarray of
creative beauty, just by taking one small corner and making it more about ‘me’.

Discovering our authenticity is a beautiful thing…especially when it comes
to fruition!  What brings you closer to your authentic self?  Have you ever
wondered? If you’re looking for a good book I highly recommend
“The Gifts of Imperfection’ by Dr. Brene Brown.

{a big thank you to Amy Zlatic for the post she put up about designing her
workspace!  Amy, you gave me inspiration to write this post for today.
And my shot above was taken the same day after making this sweet, creative
corner space in my office.  My little studio.  My heaven.  My home.}
